In Loving Memory of Yoda
Some dogs don't just change your life.
They change the direction of it.
Yoda was that dog.
A black Belgian Shepherd, Yoda was found abandoned in a dump after spending much of his life trapped inside a bird cage—so small he couldn't even stand upright. Years of confinement left him with a permanently curved spine. He walked on his hocks, moving with a gentle, gorilla-like gait that made him unforgettable.
But Yoda never measured his life by what his body couldn't do.
He loved to frolic. He loved paddling through the water. He greeted mornings by gently nibbling your feet, making sure everyone knew it was time to start the day.
He was shamelessly spoiled, exactly as he should have been.
Acupuncture.
Red light therapy.
Massage.
Anything that could bring him comfort, because after everything he'd endured, he deserved nothing less.
Yoda wasn't just one of our dogs.
He was one of our soul dogs.
He was also the reason New Leash On Love began working with international rescues like BETA Lebanon. His story opened our hearts to dogs whose suffering reached far beyond our own community, and because of him, countless others would eventually find safety too.
Today, Yoda has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
People often say someone leaves footprints on your heart.
Yoda left something even deeper.
He left stretch marks on our souls.
Thank you, sweet Yoda, for changing us forever.
