With her scruffy woodland-poet look and soulful eyes, Nixie looks like she wandered out of the pages of a storybook. But her story has been anything but magical.

For 3½ years, she’s called a shelter home, waiting patiently while others were chosen. Through it all, she’s held onto her gentle heart and hope that one day it will finally be her turn.

Nixie isn’t looking for perfection. She’s looking for kindness. A cozy bed. Quiet walks. A family who will see beyond the shelter and into the incredible dog she’s always been.
