Not because she felt sorry for him.

Because Granger makes it nearly impossible not to.

He leans into affection. He wants closeness. He melts into people as though being held is exactly where he was always meant to be. For a dog who has experienced such cruelty, his willingness to trust humans is extraordinary.

Granger is blind, so the world can understandably feel uncertain at times. Around other dogs, he may initially be nervous and needs patience, calm introductions and time to understand that he is safe. With people, however, his softness comes through almost instantly.

He does not know he is supposed to be tragic.

He knows warm hands.
He knows cuddles.
He knows the sound of a familiar voice.
He knows how good it feels when someone sits beside him and stays.

Granger has already adapted to a world he cannot see and a body that moves differently now. What he needs next is not someone focused on everything he has lost.

He needs someone who can see everything that is still here.

The sweetness.
The trust.
The cuddles.
The enormous heart.

Our Director met Granger and fell completely in love with him.

We have a feeling his person will too.

Granger survived the worst of humanity and somehow remained unbelievably gentle. Now we need to find the human worthy of that kind of heart.

Granger is the kind of dog who completely undoes you.

He was shot in the face and front leg. His injuries left him blind, his front leg had to be amputated, and his ears had also been mutilated.

And somehow, after all of that, Granger is still one of the sweetest, cuddliest dogs you could ever meet.

When Nikki, our Director of Sanctuary Operations, met Granger, she fell in love with him almost immediately.
