Meet BANDERA
After spending nearly his entire life waiting in a shelter, Bandera has finally found the family he always deserved. His forever home is with our Director, Nikki, her partner David, and their family. Nikki also previously adopted Ori, opening her home and heart to dogs whose stories might otherwise have been forgotten. Behind the scenes, Nikki is one of the driving forces behind New Leash On Love. She has dedicated countless hours to fostering, organizing community partnerships, coordinating donation drives, and travelling countless kilometres to pick up rescue dogs from shelters and airports, ensuring they safely reach their forever homes. Together, Nikki and David's family business, National Car Rentals – Cobourg & Trenton, has become an invaluable community partner, generously sponsoring crisis relief missions, donation transports, airport pickups, and rescue journeys that help animals travel safely from shelters to their forever families.
When Bandera's story was shared, our community answered with an incredible tennis ball drive. Hundreds of tennis balls were donated to celebrate the one thing Bandera has always loved. That outpouring of kindness became a symbol of hope and the perfect welcome to his new life. Soon, Nikki will make another extraordinary journey as she travels to Lebanon to personally escort her own rescue dog home to Canada, continuing her unwavering commitment to giving animals affected by conflict the chance at a safe and loving future.
Bandera's adoption is more than a happy ending. It is a reminder that compassion, dedication, community partnerships, and people willing to go the extra mile truly change lives.
